Frequently Asked Questions About Sending a Postcard from Iceland

Everything you need to know about sending a real postcard from Iceland.

Is this a real physical postcard?

Yes — a real postcard, printed on card stock. Not a digital card, not an e-card, not a printable download. It is physically mailed from Iceland and arrives in the recipient's letterbox. They can hold it, display it, or keep it for years.

Is the message handwritten by a real person?

Yes. Your message is written by hand onto the postcard by a real person — word for word, exactly as you've written it. Nothing is machine-printed on the message side.

Are the postcard images real photographs?

Yes. Every image on our postcards is a real photograph taken in Iceland by a human photographer. None of our designs use AI-generated imagery, digitally synthesised art, or generic stock illustrations.

Is it actually sent from Iceland?

Yes. Every postcard is printed, hand-written, and posted from Iceland through Pósturinn — the Icelandic national postal service. It carries a genuine Icelandic stamp, and the postmark confirms Iceland as the origin.

Is this different from a digital or e-card?

Completely different. This is a physical postcard — written by hand, stamped with a real Icelandic stamp, and delivered by post. There is nothing digital about the end result. No email is sent to the recipient, no link to click, no notification. Just a postcard in their letterbox.

Which postal service is used to send the postcard?

Every postcard is posted through Pósturinn, Iceland's national postal operator. From Iceland, it enters the international postal network and is delivered by your destination country's local postal service.

Can I choose the design?

Absolutely. Browse our collection of Icelandic postcards — glaciers, aurora borealis, volcanic landscapes, waterfalls, and more. Every design is a real photograph taken in Iceland. Find the one that fits the occasion on our postcard selection page.

Can I personalise the message?

Yes. During checkout you write your personal message (up to 300 characters). A member of our team then writes it by hand onto the postcard — no template, no boilerplate. Just what you write.

How long does shipping take?

Estimated delivery times from Iceland:

  • Europe: 5–10 business days
  • USA & Canada: 7–14 business days
  • Australia & New Zealand: 10–21 business days
  • Rest of the world: 10–21 business days

These are estimates. Delivery depends on the destination country's postal service and can be affected by public holidays or customs.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes — we post to any country in the world that has a functioning postal service. If you're unsure about your destination, contact us and we'll let you know.

Can I send it as a gift directly to someone else?

Of course. Just enter the recipient's name and address at checkout — the postcard goes directly to them. Your own email address is only used for the order confirmation and is not visible to the recipient.

How much does it cost?

$15.90 per postcard. Worldwide delivery is included in the price. There are no hidden fees or add-ons — one flat price regardless of destination.

How do I pay?

We use Stripe for secure payment processing. You can pay by credit or debit card. After completing the order form, you'll be redirected to the secure Stripe checkout page.

Can I cancel or change my order?

Orders are processed quickly — usually within 1–2 business days. If you need to make a change, contact us at hello@postcard.is as soon as possible and we'll do our best to help. Once the card has been posted, we're unable to make changes.

What if there's a delivery issue?

Get in touch at hello@postcard.is and we'll investigate. Please note that once posted, delivery is handled by the postal service and we cannot guarantee specific delivery dates. See our Refund Policy for details.

Do you send postcards about Iceland travel — or from Iceland-based people?

Both. Our service is used by people who have visited Iceland and want to send a card, people who simply love Iceland and want to give someone a unique gift, and anyone who wants to send something more meaningful than a text or email.
