About this postcard

This image combines two of the most distinctly Icelandic things in a single frame: the aurora borealis and the solitary lighthouse on a flat coastal headland. The orange paint of the tower is standard for Icelandic lighthouses — vivid enough to be visible in low light against sea and sky. The aurora here is bright enough to cast its own light on the water below.
