About this postcard

Dettifoss sits in Vatnajökull National Park, fed by the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river as it drops 44 metres into the Jökulsárgjúfur canyon. The volume of water passing over it — up to 500 cubic metres per second during peak snowmelt — makes it the most powerful waterfall on the European continent. You hear it before you see it.

The landscape around Dettifoss is lunar. Dark basalt columns, grey gravel flats, almost no vegetation. Then this vast curtain of white water. The contrast is part of what makes it so arresting — the falls seem to belong to a different planet than the one you drove through to get there.

This postcard captures that scale and drama. Sent from Iceland with a genuine Icelandic stamp and postmark, it's a piece of one of the world's great natural wonders — arriving in someone's letterbox.

Every Postcard.is design is a real image from Iceland — a place whose landscapes range from glaciers and waterfalls to volcanic deserts and midnight-sun coastlines. We print each card on quality postcard stock, add your personal message, and post it directly from Iceland with a genuine Icelandic stamp and postmark.
