About this postcard
Iceland is one of the most volcanically active places on earth. Major eruptions have occurred roughly every four to five years on average, and the island has been shaped almost entirely by volcanic activity over the past 20 million years. Some of Iceland's volcanoes are household names: Eyjafjallajökull, Katla, Hekla. Others are known only to the Icelanders who live in their shadow.
Volcanic mountains have a particular profile — broad at the base, often flat-topped from collapsed calderas, with flanks that sweep down to the plains around them. This postcard captures one of Iceland's peaks: the silhouette of geology made by fire. Printed and posted from Iceland with a genuine Icelandic stamp and postmark.
Every Postcard.is design is a real image from Iceland — a place whose landscapes
range from glaciers and waterfalls to volcanic deserts and midnight-sun coastlines.
